Establishing the authenticity of a record is referred to as verification or authentication.
Authenticity is a central concept in the preservation of records- it means that a record ‘conforms with the original’. It may not change or be corrupted if that affects this.
When is a record authentic? This is not a simple question to answer. There are circumstances that make the preservation and management of digital information especially complicated.
Metadata, or information about information, is an important aspect of records management.
In addition to the MoReq model for electronic records management systems, we also have electronic document AND records management systems.
