Cooperation between National Archives of Indonesia and the Netherlands formalised

An Indonesian delegation, led by the new director-general of the Arsip Nasional Republik Indonesia (ANRI), Mr. M. Asichin, visited the Nationaal Archief on October 11th and 12th. Mr. Asichin was accompanied by Mr. Tasdik Kinanto from the ministry of Administrative Reform and two of his staff members.

Formalising the cooperation: Executive Program and Working Program

The delegation was welcomed by the Mutual Cultural Heritage program-team. The consultations were focused on two objectives: a text of an Executive Program and an agreement on a Working Program. Both documents are essential in formalising the cooperation between the two national archives in the following years (2010-2012). After successful deliberations an Executive program was signed by the directors of ANRI and the Nationaal Archief, Mr. Asichin and Mr. Berendse. The Working Program (an overview of projects) will be finalised and signed in November 2010 in Jakarta. The projects are all -directly and indirectly- focused on digitization of relevant archives and their accessibility on the internet.

Future ambitions

Furthermore representatives of the ministry of Education, Culture and Science and of The Netherlands Institute for Heritage notified the Indonesian delegation on the Dutch governmental policy on mutual cultural heritage and on the ambition to include the 'East' in the already existing network of The Atlantic World and the Dutch.
