Conference Archives without borders

The Flemish association for archivists and librarians (VVBAD) and the Dutch association for archivists (KVAN) will be hosting an international conference titled Archives without Borders. This will be held on the 30th and 31st of August 2010 in the Peace Palace in The Hague, The Netherlands. This conference is being held to commemorate the first international archives-conference, which took place in Brussels a century ago in 1910.

The conference focuses on the importance of archives for good governance in an international context, where their significance transcends national boundaries in the globalized information society.

Sessions will be held on the themes 'Archival Solidarity', 'Human Rights and Archives', 'Cross-border Archives' and 'Archives: Formation of the Nation State and National Identity'.

Archives without Borders is supported by the Nationaal Archief in The Hague, The Netherlands, and by the Section of Professional Associations of the International Council on Archives (ICA/SPA).

You can register for this conference by completing the registrationform at the website of Archives without borders.
