Digital preservation strategies

Digital information can be managed and preserved in a number of different ways. A range of factors must be considered when selecting the most appropriate preservation strategy, such as the type of information to be preserved, the retention period (long or short), and the cost. The most common preservation strategies are:

  • Print to paper
  • Technology preservation
  • Migration
  • Emulation
  • XML
